
An approach to teaching and learning early number

Teachers use the four-part Counting Collections routine in weekly sessions and make the Counting Collection library available in provision.

Substantive professional development supports teachers to use the Counting Collections approach. All teachers have access to Counting Collections Online.

Two EEF-funded research projects: a randomised controlled trial with reception teachers and a development project with pre-school practitioners.
